About the study program
Integrated academic studies of medicine for obtaining the academic title of Doctor of Medicine last 6 years or 12 semesters of instruction, which takes place in the form of: 1) lectures, 2) exercises, 3) other forms of active teaching (seminars, case studies) clinical practical teaching and independent work which is in the function of final exam preparation. The relation of some forms of teaching is defined in accordance with the outcome of the study program. The total number of hours in the curriculum curriculum is 5680, and the number of active classes is 4740, of which 2235 are dedicated to theoretical instruction, and 2505 classes are exercises and other forms of active teaching. The number of active classes is higher than the number that represents the statutory minimum. Summer professional practice and clinical practical lessons include 790 hours, and the independent work of students for the thesis is 150 more hours.
Total engagement of students of the study program of integrated academic studies-Medicine through active teaching and learning outside the active learning curriculum for the purpose of continuous mastering of program materials, preparation of colloquium, exams and preparation of diploma papers, is expressed with the number of 360 ECTS. The value of an ECTS score corresponds, on average, to a 27-hour student engagement.
The ECTS implementation was carried out according to an unmodulated system in which each subject can have a different number of points so that the total number of points in one academic year is 60. The number of points for each subject is determined in relation to the assigned tasks that the student should perform in order to achieve the goal and the learning outcome. Within each subject, teaching activities are defined relevant to achieving the goal and outcomes of the course and the time required for each teaching activity, so that the total student engagement of the student corresponds to the number of points that belong to the subject. The student achieves the points envisaged for the subject after the final exam.
The curriculum curriculum allows students to acquire basic knowledge in biological and basic (preclinical) medical sciences during the first year of study (Molecular and Human Genetics, Anatomy, Histology and Embryology), general education (Medical Statistics and Informatics, Medicine and Society) and to introduce the principles of professional and ethical approach to patients, colleagues and staff of health institutions (Introduction to Clinical Practice). During the second year of studies, besides general-educational subjects (English language in medicine), students gain knowledge of basic medical sciences (Basics of immunology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology) and knowledge and skills necessary for providing the first medical aid (First Aid). The curriculum of the third year study includes subjects from basic medical sciences (Pathology, Pathophysiology and Pharmacology with Toxicology) and clinical sciences (Internal Propedevics). During the IV, V and VI year of the study students acquire education (knowledge and skills) in the field of clinical sciences (Infectious Diseases, Radiology, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry with Medical Psychology, Clinical Biochemistry, Clinical Microbiology, Dermatovenerology, Neurology, Pediatrics, Gynecology with Obstetrics, Surgery 1, Clinical Pharmacology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Anesthesiology with Reanimatology, Labor Medicine, Ophthalmology, Surgery 2, Otorhinolaryngology, Maxillofacial Surgery, Clinical Oncology, U trace-Medicine, Family Medicine and Forensic Medicine.
After the III, IV and V year of the study, students have completed summer professional practice in the teaching bases of clinical subjects (Internal medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics and Gynecology with obstetrics) in a 430-hour secretion.
Elective courses, envisaged in II, III, VI, VII, VIII and X semester will provide students with the opportunity to affirm their preferences and attitudes towards specific areas of medicine.
In the XII semester of the study program, a clinical practical training (clinical internship) is planned for 90 hours of introductory exercises in the field of study-based research conducted by teachers and 360 hours of practical lessons performed by students through professional practice. The studies end with the defense of the thesis.
